More than 60,000 motorists...

More than 60,000 motorists were told where they could find all the fixed and mobile speed camera sites in the Midlands at this year"s British Motor Show. The Midlands Safety Camera Partnership handed out a free interactive CD-ROM showing where the speed traps are sited. The aim is to improve safety throughout the region, and it"s the first time the eight camera partnerships involved have disclosed the locations of all their sites. A leading car rental firm has reported a drop in the number of its customers prosecuted for speeding – but the number of general road fines has rocketed. National Car Rental, which has 40,000 vehicles in the UK and forwards penalties to the hirer, says the number of traffic fines is twice as high as last year.
