The RAC has been bought by Norwich Union owner Aviva for н‚бЈ1.1billion. And the new owner has already revealed plans to cut 900 head office jobs and lose 800 administration staff at the automotive breakdown giant. While some services will be moved outside the UK, front-line staff involved in such areas as patrol call centres will remain in Britain.

What do you do with 900 old tyres? Simple - build a house! A team has constructed a building with walls made from rubber filled with earth near Kinghorn in Fife. Legislation will soon make it illegal to dispose of tyres as landfill, so it"s hoped the idea will help provide affordable housing in rural areas.
