This is where the Inova Bolt comes in. The compact torch is small enough to use in the hardest to reach places of the engine bay, while the rubber handle is easy to grip, even when wet. The body is made from aircraft-grade aluminium, and even after a number of drops on a concrete garage floor, the tough and durable torch worked perfectly.

It’s extremely bright, too. The 3.8-watt LED is powerful, and the maker says that it can be seen up to two miles away. The effective range is 150 feet, which is impressive for a torch that’s no longer than a Biro. There’s a push button for flashing, or you can twist the end cap for a constant beam.

But why is it called the Bolt? Well, that’s to do with the end cap that’s shaped like a hex nut. This prevents the torch rolling off surfaces and comes in handy when resting it on sloped car bodywork.
