Auto Express has learned...

Auto Express has learned the Korean marque will undergo a complete makeover next year - and in a shock move, the Daewoo name will be axed and replaced by Chevrolet. Daewoo models are already badged Chevy in eastern European markets, and the re-branding should cover all of the Continent by the end of 2005.

The decision has been made as GM is keen to separate Daewoo cars from its original parent, the giant industrial conglomerate of the same name. The change would coincide with the launch of a raft of fresh models, including an all-new Matiz and a sharp-looking SUV that will take on the Land Rover Freelander.

Meanwhile, another US company, Dodge, is to take a stand at September"s Paris Motor Show. Bosses at the manufacturer revealed back in January that the brand would be launched across Europe this year, and now the French event"s organisers have confirmed Dodge will be one of the newcomers for 2004.
