The Italian car designer...
The Italian car designer wasn"t given the car from the firm, he created it himself. Our exclusive images reveal the GG50, a one-off supercar based on a 612 Scaglietti and built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the design studio.
Based on the A6 Avant...
Based on the A6 Avant, the newcomer was snapped on a stretch of autobahn in Germany. Instantly identifiable thanks to its raised ride height, the Allroad also gets a new-look rear bumper. The inspiration for that has come from the concept version unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
There"s no shot of the front, but it will include Audi"s trademark chrome grille. Sources say there will be a more aggressive mesh pattern, similar to that used on the forthcoming Q7 off-roader.
Designed as a rival to Volvo"s XC70, the Allroad will offer a wide range of engines. The 2.7-litre V6 TDI diesel is tipped to be the most popular choice, while the 4.2-litre petrol V8 will power flagship models. As with the previous-generation Allroad, even basic versions will have all-wheel drive and adjustable air-suspension. Prices are expected to start from around the í‚á£30,000 mark, making the car roughly í‚á£3,000 more expensive than a standard A6 Avant.
Meanwhile, Audi is celebrating the most successful sales period in its history. More than 342,000 new models were delivered to customers worldwide in the first five months of 2005. Continuing strong sales of the TT coup탩 and the introduction of the new A6 Avant are partly responsible for the record. But a spokeswoman said: "The success isn"t down to any one model. Every vehicle in our range is strong, so we have been outselling our main rivals."
