Based on the XJ, the aluminium Daimler is powered by a 400bhp 4.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, producing a 0-60mph time of five seconds and a 155mph top speed. The car is set apart from the Jag by the Daimler fluted radiator grille, plus chrome trim on the door mirrors and rear light clusters.

Distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels and "D" badging on the boot release and headrests also differentiate the long wheelbase limo, which offers a class-leading 99cm of rear legroom. It comes with a choice of three luxurious interior trims, plus a wide range of options including TV screens, DVD player and computer games console. The Daimler Super Eight will go on sale in UK showrooms in November from í‚á£80,000.
