Called Ford Individual, the plan lets customers choose from a range of kit which they can add to the standard trim. There are three themes: "sporty", which adds alloys or metal pedals, "luxury" offering leather and wood, and "hi-tech" which is aimed at those interested in rear view cameras and sound systems.

The scheme is on trial in Germany and Switzerland, and if successful could be brought to the UK.
