Called i-Tech, it"s...

Called i-Tech, it"s designed to protect motorists against their keys being stolen and car jacking. If a vehicle is driven without the owner"s mobile phone being in the cabin, the system calls the registered keeper. They can then hear what"s happening within the stolen motor, talk to the people inside, and even switch off the engine.

The vehicle is also tracked by satellite so that the person it belongs to can check on the location simply by logging on to the Internet. If thieves try to snatch the car with the driver in it, a panic button on the i-Tech key fob alerts a nominated friend by phone.

And it is not only an anti-theft device, according to maker i-Tech Security. Owners can programme the ÷£395 kit to let their mobile unlock their car from anywhere in the world - which could prove invaluable if they ever lose their keys.
