Chairman Helmut Panke...

Chairman Helmut Panke explained: "BMW will be further expanding with two completely new, independent model series." According to our sources, both will be based on the next-generation X5, itself due for launch in 2007.

The first will be a daring coup탩 that will mark a step for-ward from 2001"s Xcoup탩 concept. It will blend the ride height and lofty driving position of an SUV with the handling and looks of a sporty two-door model. Meanwhile, the second car is likely to be a more practical large family vehicle.
