But now Volvo has gone and thrown a nail file in the works by staging a cheap, badly managed and cheesy publicity stunt at the Geneva Motor Show. This, the Ford-owned, Swedish firm did by not only erecting barriers, but doing so proudly, publicly and provocatively. In establishing an "all-woman" team to develop, over several years, a vehicle called Your Concept Car or YCC, Volvo females blatantly banned Volvo males. Aren"t there equality laws to prevent this sort of workplace prejudice and exclusion?

The firm"s next Prius will be so efficient it will be the first production car capable of returning more than 110mpg. The newcomer is being developed to try to improve European sales. While the car has been a success in the US, it has met a mixed reaction on this side of the Atlantic, due to the popularity of diesel models.

Jeep has launched a...

Jeep has launched a special edition of its Wrangler. The Renegade costs í‚á£16,300, and is based on the 4.0-litre Sport, but adds 15-inch Ecco alloy wheels, a seven-speaker CD system and unique branding. It"s available in black or light khaki, and only 55 will be made. Also, the Wrangler Sport now comes in three new colours: Flame Red, Solar Yellow and Electric Lime Green.

Despite heavy criticism...

Despite heavy criticism in the media, McLaren has been cleared over its decision to order Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton to hold position in Monaco to safeguard a 1-2 result.

The FIA investigation said: "It"s standard procedure for a team to tell its drivers to slow down when they have a substantial lead. It is also reasonable to ask drivers not to put each other at risk."
