The British motor industry...
The British motor industry has received another hammer blow, with new CO2-based showroom taxes set to hit models from prestige UK marques.
Engineers left this...
Engineers left this early production version of the Corsa unattended during winter testing, allowing the mag"s spy photographers to peek inside. Despite taping over the logo on the steering wheel, it"s clearly the new baby - and owners of the current generation will recognise the stereo controls.
As with the Antara, the centre console - which will match the silver finish of the radio unit on production versions - is dominated by large circular air vents. Yet while the off-roader has a trio of round outlets, the new supermini features only two, mounted below the digital readout for the radio/CD player.
And although entry-level models will get traditional dials to adjust ventilation settings, expect flagship cars to offer digital climate control. Top-spec versions are also due to feature Peugeot 1007-style changeable interior panels, allowing customers to personalise their vehicle.
The model captured in the mag is fitted with sequential Easytronic transmission, which enables the driver to manually select higher and lower gears simply by pushing or pulling the smart alloy ball-in-socket lever.
The newcomer will debut at July"s British Motor Show at ExCeL in London"s Docklands, and is expected to hit dealers in September with a choice of four petrol engines and three diesels.
