The car has been freshened...
The car has been freshened in a bid to spice up what is one of the manufacturer"s oldest models. The redesign is similar in scale to that given to the S80 last year, so don"t expect too many significant changes.
Four decades after it...
Four decades after it redefined the movie car chase, Ford’s Mustang Bullitt is back – sportier and more powerful than ever.
Named after the Steve McQueen film of 1968, it’s powered by a 4.6-litre V8 producing 315bhp and 441Nm of torque. With an uprated chassis and suspension it should be the most balanced Mustang ever.
The Dark Highland Green paint is in homage to the newcomer’s famous predecessor, but that’s not all. Engineers worked hard to make sure it even delivers an exhaust note to match that heard in cinemas.
“The 2008 Mustang Bullitt embodies the true spirit of the screen car,” said Derrick Kuzak of Ford. “It takes the driving dynamics up a notch for enthusiasts who love the performance, handling and sweet sound of power only a Mustang can deliver.”
The latest in a long line of special editions, only 7,700 Bullitts will be made. According to Ford, it maintains the badge’s tradition of providing affordable performance, too, as its on sale in the States for ,075 – that’s around ?15,000.
Meanwhile, it’s never been cheaper to buy a standard Mustang in the UK, Kent Car Imports has revealed. It can now deliver a brand new V6 model to your door for ?17,555, while V8s are available for ?21,300. These prices are the result of the weak dollar which, the independent importer says, has led to UK Mustang orders doubling since 2006.
