It’s not often...
It’s not often that a toy car draws a crowd at a major motor show, but that’s exactly what happened when model maker Herpa unveiled a wacky new Trabant at Frankfurt!
Called Initiative new Trabi, the 1:10 scale model celebrates the golden anniversary of the defunct East German maker, which closed its doors in 1990. Herpa bought the trademark from the Trabant Owners’ Club earlier this year, and also owns the production rights to any new car.
Although the model maker doesn’t have the resources to build the Trabi, a company spokesman said it would be willing to transfer the rights should an established firm be interested. “There’s been a new Beetle and Mini, now it’s time for a new Trabi,” he said.
