They may be fashionable, but driving in flip-flops could be fatal. A quarter of road users admit to wearing open-toed footwear at the wheel - yet 75 per cent of those said it impeded car control. The main problem is soles catching under pedals. Insurer Norwich Union, which conducted the survey, said: "Motorists should think carefully about their footwear."

They will also have the chance to win a track day to put the MG XPower SV through its paces and can even show off their driving skills on the XPower Touring Car driving simulator. The display starts at 8am in the morning and continues until 19.30pm that evening.
