Second-hand motors purchased from independent dealers prompted more complaints from the public than any other goods or services in 2006. The group took 37,594 calls about used cars – 12,795 more than mobile phones. TVs were the third most complained about items.

"This provides consistent broadband reception from a satellite to enable clear viewing, similar to what you see in your home," said a spokesman. The antenna moves to track orbiting satellites, but the motors that power it are so quiet drivers won"t hear them.

On sale this month are the 3 Tamura and 6 Tamura, which are based on TS-trimmed variants and get sporty bodykits with new front and rear bumpers.

The 3 has 16-inch alloys, while the 6 features 17-inch wheels – and both have climate control as standard. Priced at ?13,795, only 700 examples of the 1.6-litre petrol engined 3 Tamura will be available. The 6 Tamura has a 147bhp 2.0-litre petrol unit and costs ?15,995. Just 1,200 will go on sale.

Meanwhile, Mazda has also launched the rarer 6 Kumano – a

limited edition of 120 models with xenon headlights and 16-inch alloys. Based on TS2 trim, the Kumano gets a six-CD changer and auto wipers, among other extra items. Available with either a 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engine, prices start at ?17,550.
