Production in the UK...

Production in the UK would centre around a range of five MG sports cars, and Nanjing has pledged to manufacture 80,000 units annually here within five years. It has said this would create 2,000 jobs in the Midlands.

The company, which is based in Jiangsu province and is China"s oldest automotive manufacturer, also wants to establish a research and development centre in the UK. However, it"s unclear when production will resume in Britain and whether it will be at Longbridge. Nanjing is said to be looking at other sites in the Birmingham area.
