I spy with my little eye something beginning with ‘S’ – secret test tracks! Car makers may think the proving grounds where they fine-tune new models are safely hidden. But they aren’t! No amount of barbed wire, high fencing or burly security staff can guard against the prying eyes of satellites orbiting the earth. These can see everywhere. And thanks to the computer program Google Earth, you can, too. We have used the hi-tech software to look in on 13 of the world’s most heavily guarded test tracks.

The Ferrari empire is...

The Ferrari empire is expanding! These are the first official shots of the gargantuan Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi. Situated adjacent to the Yas Marina circuit ò€“ host to last weekendò€™s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ò€“ the giant roof has only just been put in place and boasts the largest Ferrari logo ever created at 66-metres across.

Spotted on test alongside its compact MPV stablemate, Peugeot’s 308 is still heavily disguised – but this is the first clear shot of the rear.

Replacing the 307 in 2008, it will look similar to the recently launched 207, yet feature dynamics far superior to those of the 307 it replaces. Priced to take on Ford’s Focus, the car is sure to appeal to private buyers. Three and five-door models plus an estate will be offered initially, followed by a folding hard-top CC.
