The VW camper is back!...
The VW camper is back! After years of speculation, Volkswagen has pulled the covers off the modern day succes÷sor to the classic Samba bus – only this time, it’s more compact and produces zero emissions.
Tesco has teamed up...
Tesco has teamed up with licensed agency Ranger to access the DVLA database for details of drivers who have stayed beyond its free three-hour limit. The shop then sends a warning letter and, for repeat offenders, a í‚á£70 fine.
But MP Peter Atkinson is furious with the authority for passing on personal details to his local Tesco in Hexham, Northumberland. "It"s outrageous that a firm has access to such a database," he said. "This is a private car park. I can"t see how the store can possibly enforce payment."
A Tesco spokeswoman explained that the scheme was designed to prevent all-day parking. She told us: "It"s not true to say that Tesco gets access to names and addresses, because we don"t. We use a licensed agency, and the system is strictly monitored by the DVLA."
The DVLA said regulations allow the release of inform-ation to anyone who can demonstrate "reasonable cause" for their request. Mr Atkinson has written to Transport Secretary Alistair Darling over the matter.
