The VW-owned marque has seen 2006 figures rise 17% against the same month last year, with 52,852 Skodas being bought worldwide. This has happened against the background of a global slowdown in car sales.

Skoda claims the launch of its higher performance models, the vRS brand, has helped boost the sales, with 1 in 5 of the Octavia and Fabia ranges going out with the high-horsepower units in the UK.
