Ten limited-edition...
Ten limited-edition 3-Series models are to be auctioned by BMW to mark the 10th anniversary of South Africa"s first democratic elections. Called the Democracy Cars, they"ve been signed by ex-president Nelson Mandela, with a plaque to authenticate it. All proceeds will go to his Children"s Fund, which helps underprivileged kids across the country. The cars have been built by BMW South Africa, with many suppliers donating components for free.
The calming influence...
The calming influence of a familiar motor makes it first choice for many brides. The traditional Roller (image) appears further down the list compiled by insurer Churchill, along with unusual vehicles such as a milk float, vintage bus or tractor. Five per cent of brides walked to church.
Menawhile, thousands of wedding guests are falling foul of drink drive laws this year, according to new research from Privilege Insurance.
Almost one in three (32 per cent) drivers at weddings admitted to drinking over the legal limit while almost one in ten (9 per cent) drivers took to their cars within three hours of having a drink.
But it is not just drivers to blame. The Privilege research shows that three per cent of wedding guests have actively given alcoholic drinks to other guests at a wedding, knowing they were later going to drive.
