World champ Fernando Alonso has made an electric start to his new life at McLaren. The Spaniard has been setting the pace as most of the F1 teams rev up for the forthcoming season in Spain. “At the moment the car is fast and seems to be reliable,” stated Alonso. But he’s aware it’s still early days yet. “No one knows who is going to be fast when the real racing begins,” he added.

The car is based on the C2 GT, but while that model is í‚á£10,485 in showrooms, all the extras on this red racer mean it"s worth more than double that. "It"s a complete one-off with a tuned engine, lowered suspension and special bodykit," said a Citroen spokesman.
"There are twin chrome exhaust tail-pipes, a rear spoiler, 18-inch titanium alloys and neon lights underneath." The modifications have been carried out by Nottingham-based company Cituning, and the vehicle is finished in a special Sport Red paint with unique decals.
But this sensational Citroen is missing one important detail: a name. And that"s where Auto Express readers come in. The firm would like you to suggest a suitable moniker. "This car is just right for the urban environment of Motropolis, but it also represents the dynamic qualities of the production version," added the Citroen spokesman. "Our live action star needs a name to reflect that, and we want it to be "The C2 something"."
The prize is definitely worth winning - two VIP tickets to the British Motor Show, plus seats to see Motropolis in the Live Action Arena. Backstage access is included, too - but best of all, there is the chance to ride in the car as it heads on stage in front of up to 4,000 people.
