The exciting new 4x4...

The exciting new 4x4 from Jeep will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January. A daring development of the 2002 concept, it promises to rival the new Toyota RAV4 and the next Land Rover Freelander. The model is the smallest off-roader the US firm has ever built, and is based on the same platform as the forthcoming Dodge Caliber.

It will be the first Jeep to compete in the big-selling compact SUV sector when it goes on sale in the UK at the end of next year. Helping it to success will be a wide range of both petrol and oil-burning engines, including a new 2.0-litre Volkswagen-sourced diesel. This could be mated with the German firm"s acclaimed semi-automatic DSG gearbox.
