Fresh from the launch of the ESF Concept, Mercedes has shown that not just safety, but style is on their agenda too! The firm has revealed the special-edition SLK 2LOOK.

The first half of the ring-bound A4 offering is a road atlas with a scale of three-and-a-half miles per inch. Maps are bright and easy to read, but the low-grade paper tears easily. The level of data is adequate and includes tourist attractions – however, these seem to have been added only where there is room.
What makes this map unique, though, are the numbered ‘bed’ icons for hotels, which correspond with a detailed listing at the back. The information includes address, description, local attractions, facilities and guide prices, as well as pictures of rooms for more than 500 locations.
Each of the 4,000-plus hotels listed has a freephone number; simply add an extension for your choice. The system is brilliant and saves you hunting around. The only trouble is, not every town gets a wide selection of detailed establishments. Ports÷mouth, for example, has only two; a further 18 have just a name and freephone number. Nevertheless, the Hotel Register Atlas & Hotel Guide is very useful.
