Hot on the heels of...

Hot on the heels of the brand"s Commander, Compass, Patriot and new Wrangler, the practical truck concept is officially being considered for production. And the great news for British buyers is that if the project goes ahead, it"s more than likely to come here.

Due in dealerships next...

Due in dealerships next spring, the production car looks even more aggressive than the concept that debuted at September"s Frankfurt Motor Show. Powered by the same 343bhp, 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine as the M3, the two-seater covers 0-62mph in five seconds on its way to a limited 155mph top speed - making it quicker than Porsche"s new Cayman S. Bulging wheelarches and a brace of twin exhausts separate the flagship from the rest of the line-up, along with a lowered ride height and larger brakes front and rear. The SMG paddleshift transmission will be an option.

The latest DfT figures...

The latest DfT figures show that while half of all drivers are still exceeding the limit, the number of accidents in which "excessive speed" is a factor is less than 5 percent. By comparison, only 2 percent of motorists drive while intoxicated, but drink is a factor in nearly 25 percent of road traffic accidents.

Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed campaign reacted: "I would like to hear the DfT explain why speeding is far more commonplace than speed related crashes."

He continued: "The vast majority of responsible motorists speed because they are correctly adjusting their speed to suit the road conditions ... this behaviour - setting a safe and appropriate speed according to the conditions - is a cornerstone of road safety. Attempting to replace this...with mere legal compliance is a deadly mistake."
