Technical details are...
Technical details are still scarce, but the so-called "lifestyle estate" is expected to be larger than the existing V50. This will help the Volvo to fit more comfortably into conventional class sizes, unlike the current model
The mag"s shots show...
The mag"s shots show the topless version of the latest 911, but there"s more to them than meets the eye. Not only have we caught the canvas hood, but the mag"s picture of the black car reveals the optional hard-top which will be offered to buyers who want to keep that bit warmer in winter.
The all-new model is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and go on sale across Europe almost immediately afterwards. That includes right-hand-drive UK models.
As with the previous generation of the car, the convertible will cost around í‚á£6,000 to í‚á£7,000 more than the equivalent coup탩, with prices expected to start at around í‚á£65,000.
Engines will be the same as those offered in the coup탩, so customers can
choose from a 3.6 or 3.8-litre flat-six, developing 325bhp and 355bhp respectively. The extra weight of the car"s electric power hood, plus the additional body stiffening needed to compensate for the lack of roof, means the cabrio will be around 120kg heavier than the 911 coup탩. This will see the 0-60mph times increase by about 0.2 seconds.
Further variants, including four-wheel-drive models, turbo versions and the stripped-out GT2 and GT3, are also in the pipeline. Expect them to appear in 2005 as production is stepped up.
