The E-Class is open...
The E-Class is open for business! These are the best shots yet of Mercedesò€™ new drop-top, shown with the roof stowed for the first time. But thatò€™s not all thatò€™s intriguing about these exclusive snaps ò€“ a retractable wind deflector can be clearly seen at the top of the windscreen ò€“ a first for a car of this type.
The much-anticipated...
The much-anticipated model - identified by the "D" on the bootlid - should achieve at least 35mpg, thanks in part to its lightweight aluminium chassis. Powered by a modified version of the 204bhp 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 from the S-Type, the XJ D will be no slouch. Fitted with the S"s automatic gearbox and boasting around 435Nm of torque, expect the car to hit 0-60mph in less than eight seconds. Impressive mid-range acceleration and a top speed in excess of 140mph are also on the cards.
To boost the model"s appeal, Jaguar is expected to extend its five-year/50,000-mile free servicing package - an offer which is currently scheduled to come to an end on all other XJ variants later this month. Expect the D to be priced at around í‚á£42,000 when sales start in late September. It will herald some mild styling and trim changes for the whole XJ range.
