The Frenchman, who has tested for the outfit already this year, said: “It has been a long time coming, but here we are. I would like to thank everyone at Red Bull for giving me this opportunity.” He will line up alongside new boy Sebastian Vettel. Bourdais celebrated by winning the weekend’s ChampCar race at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. He increased his lead in the championship as he bids for a fourth successive title.
