The pair have re-signed for 2008 after being heaped with praise by team boss Nick Fry for the way they have coped with the awful RA107 car. But once again, they had a disappointing race. Button crashed early on and Barrichello finished 11th.

Trade price specialist Glass’s Guide and classifieds giant Auto Trader teamed up to assess the average prices of 200,000 pre-owned vehicles in November and December last year. The most expensive place to buy a car is the south-east of England, with an average asking price of ?10,400. That’s 14 per cent higher than the north-east, which recorded an average of ?8,900.
While an uneven distribution of car types partly explains the findings, the study also revealed regional differences for similar vehicles. In a comparison of 10 popular 03-registered family cars, the south- east was again the most expensive region.
Adrian Rushmore, managing editor of Glass’s Guide, said: “Of particular note was the degree of price difference. Averages for the sample group of small and family models in the south-east were ?5,400, compared to ?5,000 in the north-east and north-west – some eight per cent lower.” Rushmore explained that price is still the biggest factor when choosing a car.
Average asking figures in Scotland were second highest at ?10,000, while the third most expensive area during the study fluctuated between the Midlands/Wales and the north-west. The latter had a fractionally higher average of ?9,700.
