Only a week after Peugeot released official shots of its 3008 crossover, a heavily disguised long-wheelbase MPV version has been caught testing. This carò€™s extra length will mean space for seven inside, while thereò€™s a higher roofline and sliding doors for easier access.

With its distinctive windscreen surround, it shares many visual similarities with the convertible 100EX concept shown at the expo last year. However, every panel is new, and the wheelbase is reduced, too, making the striking car 225mm shorter than a Phantom saloon.
It features unusual rear-hinged doors to aid access to the back, and passengers are guaranteed plenty of privacy as the second row of chairs is tucked behind the large C-pillar. To ensure every- one remains suitably relaxed, the car also has novel "Starlight" headlining. Its soothing glow is said to resemble the sky at night to calm travellers.
A production coupé is expected in 2008, using the same 453bhp 6.75-litre V12 as the Phantom. However, thanks to its more compact size and the use of lightweight materials - possibly extending to carbon composite bodywork - it should offer superior performance. The coupé will cost around ÷£200,000, although the brand"s legendary customisation service - to tailor a vehicle to buyers" exact tastes - means many models will be priced even higher.
Meanwhile, bosses have given the 100EX drop-top the green light. The convertible should arrive in 2007.
