A team from roads contractor Mott MacDonald was working in the area, and was told to keep an eye out for the toy. Amazingly, 18 days later the bear was spotted by one of the workmen, and he was returned to his rightful owner. "I am extremely pleased to have him back," said the man, who asked not to be named. Pictured with bear and bike is Alex Skinner, a member of the crew that found him.

From the front, the Tender - which we previewed back in issue 826 - looks like a standard MINI, but it"s actually 72cm longer. There is no roof, and the stylists have done away with the conventional doors, too. Instead, the model features a Jeep-style cut-out in either side.

The car was revealed as a concept at last month"s Frankfurt Motor Show, and first versions are tipped to go on sale early next year. Powered by a 200bhp 2.0-litre engine, the Clio lacks the outright punch of VW"s Golf GTI and the Vauxhall Astra VXR, but Renault says the new RS"s blend of light weight and outright grip means it should deliver a seven second 0-60mph time and 150mph top speed.

Without any coverings, it"s plain to see how restrained the designers have been with the second-generation car. With lamps inspired by those of the Traveller concept first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the new model is sleeker than its predecessor.

The undisguised car in the mag is the Cooper S, which retains its trademark bonnet scoop. However, the hot hatch will drop its supercharged engine in favour of a new 1.6-litre turbo, which has been jointly developed by parent firm BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

Next to be caught by the mag"s spy photographer was the Traveller. The front of the estate will be identical to the three-door, but on the side, it has Mazda RX-8-style reverse-opening rear doors. A van-style split tailgate will be another distinctive feature at the back of the car. MINI has been busy putting the finishing touches to the Cooper model, too. It also gets the new Peugeot-developed engine, but in naturally aspirated form.

All models will be set up to provide even more driving thrills than the current MINI, but ride quality and refinement will be improved. The new hatch-back is set to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in September.
